Here we go again

Life may be filled with sorrow, grief, trials and many times you’re going to be so tempted to throw in the towel and call it quits. But not before wringing the neck of the person nearest to you. Here’s the deal, that person’s almost always isn’t the root of your problems. That person’s probably the only one who’s there for you. The root of your problems is the way you perceive these irritations.

No matter how much bad drowns your day, remember the good. There is always, always a good. Like that person standing right next to you.

“Strength of character means the ability to overcome resentment against others, to hide hurt feelings, and to forgive quickly.” - Lawrence Lovasik

The One that Got Away

Perhaps it was the fear, it most usually is. The fear of rejection, the fear of expectations, the fear of reality not living up to imaginations. You’ve summoned up the courage, you’ve gone over the plans, every minute detail and yet when it comes time to step up, you shy back, and let that gripping fear tread over your toes.

Today you sit and try to piece yesterday back again, never realizing that today’s yesterday is never going to be whole in its recollection. You’ll try and try to imagine scenarios to change the now, when what you didn’t’ do then has already done it’s part in the present.

What would you have done if that one hadn’t gotten away ?

What will you do now to prevent this one from getting away ?

“Time was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on. I hope you never have to think about anything as much as I think about you.”  - Jonathan Safran Foer

Let's do it (Let's Fall in Love)

There’s a part of you that responds to this calling intuitively. Sometimes you recognize that tug in the quickening of your pulse, but most often, you walk blindly into it, expecting nothing only to come out holding the world in the palm of your hands. Everything to gain, everything to lose.

You stop yourself from going the distance but your heart is not the ransom. By withholding what is second nature, you’re denying your soul the peace it’s been craving. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, open them and allow yourself to just fall in love.

“First best is falling in love. Second best is being in love. Least best is falling out of love. But any of it is better than never having been in love.” - Maya Angelou

Remember

You’re going to have so many firsts in your life. First step, first smile, first laugh, first love. And then there’ll be your first heartbreak, first sorrow, that first stab of unbearable grief, your first unforgettable memory.

I hope you know that from the first spike to the first drop and then the first time you pick yourself up, you’re making progress. Life is not meant to be lived in reverse, the climax of a film cannot be fully appreciated without its prior scenes.

Acknowledging this is merely the first of many firsts.

“When I see the best of myself in others, it makes a good first impression.” - Bauvard, The Prince of Plungers

Your Song

You try so hard, you give it your all,
And yet you fall short,
Sometimes by a little,
Sometimes by miles and long shots
I know those days
Sometimes you forget I feel them too.

Miracles don’t always come
with sparkling stars and orchestra music.
Miracles come quietly too,
in sunsets and star spangled skies.
In a baby’s giggle and rainbows after a storm.
In trying and never giving up.
Miracles dance to the melody of your own song.

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” - Albert Einstein
